Steamed Stuffed Chili

Ingredients for 15 stuffed chilis:

  • 300 g of minced pork or chicken
  • 15 big chillis
  • 1 small chopped onion in very small cubes
  • 1 teaspoon of ginger powder
  • 1 tablespoon of clear soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon of sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon of cornflour
  • 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper or black pepper
  • salt according to taste

For the sauce:

  • A piece of ginger (about 10 g)
  • 1 teaspoon of cornflour
  • 30 ml of light soy sauce
  • 100 ml of water
  • 1 tablespoon of sesame oil
  • 2 green onion stems

Preparation:

Split the peppers in half leaving the tail on, carefully remove the seeds and rinse inside the chilis and put the chilis in a large bowl of cold water. Leave aside and prepare the stuffing. In a bowl mix together the meat, chopped onion, ginger powder, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt and pepper.

Stuff the chilis with the stuffing and place them in a steamer basket. Put your steamer basket on a pan of boiling water and cook for 20 minutes. Let rest in the steamer basket while you prepare the sauce.

You can also bake them if you do not like steaming. Cook them in a heated oven at 200 ° for 15 minutes.

Cut the ginger into thin julienne. In a saucepan heat the sesame oil. Add the ginger and cook for 2 minutes. Add the water and soy sauce, mix and cook for 2 minutes again. Mix the cornflour with a tablespoon of water and pour into the pan. Mix and let thicken a little. Add the chopped green onions it’s ready.
