Dizef roti : Roasted egg


  • 3 hard-boiled eggs
  • 3 teaspoon black dark soy sauce
  • 1 clove of minced garlic
  • 1 pinch of ground ginger
  • 1 pinch of ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons of oil
  • 3 tablespoon hot water
  • 1 teaspoon honey


Remove the shells of the hard-boiled eggs prick with a fork all the sides so that the marinade penetrates more easily .

Mix together in a bowl , soy sauce , garlic , ground ginger , ground cinnamon , oil , honey and hot water.

Put eggs in this marinade and leave in the fridge for at least two hours , turning occasionally

Heat a wok over medium heat and put the eggs and marinade to cook together  , stir gently until evaporation of the marinade , making sure that it does not burn.

Remove the eggs from the wok and cut into quarters before serving as an appetizer or, as we say in Mauritius: Gadjack.
